Nutrition since there are so many bad things out there is very important to your cat’s healthContrary to what you may have heard; dry foods are not a great thing to feed a cat. Please read the label on what you are feeding? What are the ingredients? Do you know what they mean? Is the first ingrdiant a muscle meat like chicken or meal or other things? http://www. catinfo. org/#Learn_How_To_Rea…Dry foods are the number 1 cause of diabetes in cats as well as being a huge contributing factor to kidney disease, obesity, crystals, u. t.i’s and a host of other problems. Food allergies are very common when feeding dry foods. Rashes, scabs behind the tail and on the chin are all symptomsThe problems associated with Dry food is that they are loaded with grfains and carbohydrates which many cats (carnivores) cannot process them. Also, Most of the moisture a cat needs is suppose to be in the food but inDry, 95% of it is zapped out of dry foods in the processing. Another thing, most use horrible ingredients and dont use a muscle meat as the primary ingredient and use vegetable based protein versus animal. Not good for an animal that has to eat meat to survive. You want to pick a canned food w/o gravy (gravy=carbs) that uses a muscle meat as the first ingredient and doesnt have corn at least in the first 3 ingredients if at all. The best food for cats does not contain any grains at all. Fancy feast is a middle grade food with 9lives, friskies whiskas lower grade canned and wellness and merrick upper grade human quality foods. Also, dry food is not proven to be better for teeth. Does a hard pretzel clean your teeth or do pieces of it get stuck? http://www. felinefuture. com/nutrition/bp… Please read about cat nutrition. http://www. newdestiny. us/nutritionbasics… http://www. catinfo. org/feline_obesity. ht… http://maxshouse. com/feline_nutrition. ht…

I just buy the Walmart Special Kitty dry food and my cat loves it. Its cheap and good.

Leif

Iams is is a bit pricy, but it does last longer because it is more filling then most of the cheap garbage cat foods

Anya

Well my cat eats kitten caboodle! its at wal-mart im not sure how much it is though hope that helps!

Good dry cat food is becoming an oxymoron. The leading thinking in cat diet is that wet food is by far the best for cats and kittens. For starters go to http://www. littlebigcat. com and read Dr. Jean Hovfes articles there on cat nutrition such as "Why Cats Need Canned Food", " Selecting a Good Commercial Pet Food".Elizabeth Hodgins, DVM has a recently published book on feline nutrition, outlining the many ills and diseases cats can develop from dry food diets. Title starts - "Your Cat........" and may be available in your local library.

Gracie

I use Sience Diet, and all the cats love it. Ive tried Iams, but the cats really did not like it much. I tend to go with the brand names as I worry about the contents of the cheaper/no name brands

The food I buy my cat is called ONE. It has all kinds of different flavors. The bag I have right now has the flavors, Salmon, Yellow-fin Tuna, Albacore Tuna, Crab, and Sea Weed. And it only costs $6.

Larry

I really like Purina brand---theres a good variety like multiple cats, indoor formula, digestive tract, organic, hairball control, kittens, ect..and its not too expensive

First of all - you arent going to find a healthy cat food for very little cost. Let me give you a little lesson - the ingredients that are put into foods that you find at Wal-Mart or groceries stores are low quality and almost useless for your cat. They contain "fillers". Fillers include things like corn...which kitties cannot even digest, so you are feeding them food that they cannot use. They also contain "by-products" which can include dead or diseased meat that did not pass for human consumption or any other parts of any animal that is not meat (ie, lungs, spleen, kidneys, brain, livers, blood, bone, partially defatted low temperature fatty tissue, and stomachs and intestines). On the other hand you can buy high quality cat food - some brands include Wellness (What I feed my cats, a wet and dry combo), Innova EVO, Merrick, Eagle Pack Hollistics, Instinct etc. All of these foods do NOT contain any fillers (like corn, corn gluten meal), any grains (cats are carnivores, they dont need them) and by-products. They are more expensive then regular cat foods - but you are paying for quality because your cat CAN digest approximately 94% of what is in the bag (compared to approx. 40% of other foods)I hope I have helped you on your way to feeding a healthy diet and having a healthy kitty! Please do your own research about different brands of food - so you can see for yourself what I am talking about.

Make sure you dont feed them just dry food as they can get kidney stones. My cat loves Kit N Kaboodle and Chefs Blend. Make sure you have lots of water handy so they can digest their dry food

JUST REMEMBER...THAT CHEAP IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER BY ANY MEANS!!! AS IN WAL-MART. THAT IS ONE I WOULD NEVER FEED MY PRECIOUS CATS. AS I REMEMBER, THAT WAS ONE THERE WAS TROUBLE WITH. tHERE ARE A LOT OF GOOD BRANDS OUT THERE IF YOU DO YOUR RESEARCH.
