How can i get my cat to eat her food?

Burton

My mother bought cheap generic bran food. My cat refuses to eat it and will eat the dog food instead. We tried mixing the dog food with the cat food, but she just picks out the dog food and leaves the rest of the cat food. I dont want to throw away a big bag of cat food. How can I get my cat to eat the cheap food? Should I just give it to my dogs so it doenst get wasted?

Cat foods have higher protein then that of dog food for nutritional reasons. Feeding a dog cat food as a habit can cause health problems in the dogWith all the recent recalls. When a food is cheap generic food it generally does not and WILL not provide needed nutrition over a long period of time. Your cat will also be shorted its need for a higher protein by eating the dogs food. Do your dogs also get fed cheaper generic dog foods? I would toss the generics and buy better foods, a better bet over all as nutritionally wise your pets can get sick and require expensive medical care to regain their health when fed poor quality food. I dont normally post here, but your question really grabbed me. Purrson from Animalchatters on SMFhttp://animalchatters. smfforfree3.com/in…

It wont hurt if you give the dog a small amount of cat food this time, but too much protein is bad for dog as well as too much protein is also bad for a cat. However cats do need more protein then dogs. Kittens need 50%protein, adult cats need 30%protein. Dog food doesnt have enough taurine in it or enough essential vitamins for cats. dOGSAre they carnivores? Are they really like wolves, hyenas and jackals? Or are they more like us? Is it foolish to feed only meat? Should they be fed what their human family eats? The truth encompasses a little of eachIn the wild, other hunting animals that seem similar to dogs, such as wolves and hyenas, eat fruit, leaves, grasses, dig for roots and even obtain vegetable matter from the stomachs of their prey. The bones of their pray provide calcium and help keep their teeth clean. Their diets are highly varied and change seasonally. A domestic dog fed on human diet struggles with dairy products and can actually be poisoned by some of the common ingredients in human pantries. The pitfalls of feeding a home-cooked diet are that it is very hard to balance and very easy to overlook the ways in which it is isnt balanced until dog becomes ill. With a little research and attention to detail, dogs can do very well on a diet of home cookingCATSCats are strict carnivores. this mean that some of their nutritents can be obtained only from animal sources. However being a carnivore doesnt mean that all of the nutrients need to be from animal products or that a carnivorous animal could survive eating muscle meat only. A wild carnivore such as a lion will kill and eat an atelope. it will lickthe hair off and chew on the skin. the organ are consumed, including partly digested grass, leaves, and other grazed plant material. Last of all, the bones are eaten too. Cats and Dogs are also very different in their needsCats are notiorious for being fussy eaters.
