Is it better to give your cat a variety of brands and flavors of food or the same food all the time?
I know my question is a little confusing, but I was wondering will my cat like it if I feed him the same brand of food all the time or different brands? Also, should I feed him the same flavor, or is better to switch it up? Oh, and a lot of people say that "wet" cat food is not good for them and you should only give them that kind of food once in a while. How is it bad? I feed my cat about 3 packets or cans of wet food and nothing has ever happened to him.
What is a good food for a persian cat?

For wet food, I cover the can with wax paper then secure it with a rubber band before I put it in the fridge. For the dry, I use to keep the bag closed with a rubber band until I got cat litter in a bottle. When the bottle was empty, I cleaned it out properly and now keep the dry food inside. The added benefit was one less bottle in the garbage. So what are your tips?

The saturated fat content is very high in the foods you mentioned, it wouldnt harm a dog for a week, perhaps give it the runs but other than that, it wouldnt harm a dog unless you gave it these foods for its entire (short) life. Just look at the mess evolution to eat for survival + sedentary lifestyles has done for so called civilized nations!

Not true if you ate pizza fried chicken etc for a week your blood pressure will be through the roof and so will the dogs and it will most surely alter the dogs behavior

Human food is really not that bad for dogs, if you ever read whats in dog food you will see that it contains the same things we humans eat, just stay away from spicey foods. my dogs wont eat tuna so cat food would not work for them, plus dogs eat more than cats.

Both is not recemended by Vets...I do advise u do not try either. But...cat food is not for dogs...hense the name "CAT FOOD"...and human food is not for dogs either. Some human food...like mean juice, and meat is okay for dogs, but some dogs have stomache problems and cannot diguest the food...then they get sick...and vet bills..oh they are expensive.. Though it is only for a week...both could have harm on dogs. Cat food and dog food have simular ingidents..though still have differences. Different foods have different affects on different dogs..so really...results may vary..

I think that the human food is worse than the cat food! At least it is still pet food and some dog chows add a bit of fish to them now as well. Human food in some cases can be deadly for dogs....chocolate is very bad as well as garlic and more!

I really think it depends on the breed of dog, some smaller doggies stomachs are a bit more delicate than the larger dogs, also I do believe it also depends on what one started feeding the dog at its early age, but most dogs can satisfactorily eat any type food and digest it, anything that can eat it`s own vomit should`nt have to ask for a menu at meal time lol.

Why does my male cat viciously attack my older female cat only when he eats dry cat food?

He is overweight and would eat 24 hrs a day if I let him so I have to monitor his intake carefully. The older cat isnt anywhere near him when he seeks her out and attacks her after eating dry food. I switched him to wet food and he stopped doing it but lastnight he got into the dry food and immediately attacked her after I took it away from him.

It is not always easy to figure out the cat mind. maybe he is thinking he is getting the dry food (yechy to him?) because your female cat ate all the yummy wet food. among big cats in the wild, the mature males always eat first, and get the best portions, no matter who made the kill. sounds like your boy might be feeling his instincts. if you must feed dry, keep your cats separate for an hour or two afterwards, to hopefully give him time to forget he got the dry food. you could also make it unpleasant if he escapes and he goes after the other cat with a squirt of cold water from a water bottle.

Id be suspicious of mouth issues at this point. Dry food is harder for a cat to chew, and if hes got a cracked tooth, mouth sore or anything causing agony when he tries to bite down, hes going to be feeling very touchy till his mouth calms down, which means hes more likely to take it out on another cat at this point in time. Have the vet take a close look at his teeth and gums when hes in for his checkup. Or get him in to a checkup this week--if he is in pain its best to stop the pain asap.

Thats kinda strange, but I would talk to a Vet about it. If they dont think they can do anything about it I would just keep the dry food a place he cant get it, also make sure that when you feed them that you keep them in different places do that a couple times and then try again and see if he still does it if so whenever he does that take some water a squirt him with a spray bottle. Your cat will be fine. Cat food and dog food are basically the same thing. It shouldnt hurt it at all, what you need to worry about it the size of the dog food so you might want to watch your cat as far as that goes but everything else should be fine.

Hi, So its abs. fine if your cat eats the dogs food. Just try to put them in different spots in the house and keep yelling at your cat when it goes over to the dog food. If thats not working, take a water spray thing and spray the cat everytime it goes over there. the cat will soon relize its not supposed to be over there.

My cat likes to screw with the dog occasionally and eat his food, it has not hurt her yet. The dog is so cute hell go over and lay down at his bowl with his snout over it and will growl at her to keep her away.

Looking for canned food with no by-products in it that my cat will enjoy. She doesnt like canned food that much. It is a hassel to feed it to her sometimes because she often needs to be pursuaded to eat it.

I agree with Bess. A quality canned food is the best for your cat. I have three male cats who eat only canned and a raw meat diet I prepare for them from organic turkey and chicken. I use Natural Balance (which has quite a few "flavors" to choose from - turkey and giblet is one they dont particularly like). I use Wellness turkey and turkey and salmon - my cats dont like the chicken or beef in the Wellness. Also Lick Your Chops - lamb and the chicken - my cats dont like the turkey in that either. Funny as in the raw meat the turkey is the favorite over the chicken. Natural Balance has a salmon and fish variety - I use the fish sparingly, like twice a week max. Wellness and Natural Balance have the small cans which you can try with your cat for starters. Your cat will eat what you provide when she is hungry so dont worry about her preferences over her health and well-being. Owners create "finicky" cats.

So, why bother? Some cats prefer dry food only, and this is perfectly fine and very healthy for them. My cat eats both--Friskies Dental Diet and Friskies "Special Diet". But, its best to let your cat decide on this. If she prefers dry food--give it to her and forget all about the canned stuff. There is no law, rhyme or reason as to WHY she would need canned food. All the nutrition she needs is in the dry food. Just make sure she has fresh water daily also, and shell be fine.

And actually, cats will drink as much water as they need. There really is no canned cat food that is going to be truly healthy for her. Canned food is bad for their teeth. if she is susceptible to urinary problems, then look for a food with low ash content in it. If call your vet, they can tell you where to get some science diet c/d or u/d. both of these formulas are good for urinary and kidney health.

I go to Petco and get him nurtomax. it is healthy and he LOVES the entree cans. He cant wait until I put it down on the floor. Look for Nutromax or Catmax.
