What is the best cat food to prevent U. T.I.?
Our cat had a urinary blockage a few months back and at our vet's suggestion we purchased Purina One's Urinary Tract Health Formula. This took care of his strained (sometimes non-existent) urination, but he has now developed fairly frequent diarrhea. He doesn't exhibit any other signs of distress/illness, so I'm fairly convinced that this isn't the sign of something more serious. I'm wondering how serious the diarrhea itself is and if there's anything simple we can do to treat it. I have considered switching the food, which I'll try after this batch runs out. Thanks in advance! This isn't the recalled food. It's dry food, and to the best of my knowledge, the recall is for wet food only. Plus, the Purina One brand wasn't affected. Thanks for the answer though.

Is diarrhea one of the side effects of urinary tract health food for cats?
I have two cats who are sisters from the same litter. One hardly sheds at all, the other leaves fur on your hand every time you pet her. Two nights ago I brushed this cat and came up with 1 1/2 handfuls of fur. Yesterday I gave her a bath and came up with another handful of fur. But you would never guess it, because she still leaves fur on your hand when you pet her. If you look at her from the back you can see spots where it looks like the fur is getting thin. I will give you a little more detail about the cat, in case it helps. She is 5 years old, declawed, fixed, and I switched their food about a month ago, from (I think it was purina) indoor cat formula to purina one urinary tract health. She still had the shedding problem before then, but it almost seems like it has gotten worse lately - no verification on that though, because I hadn't brushed her in quite a while. More specific info in regards to some of the questions. She is an indoor cat, plus we are in TX, so it being spring shouldn't make much of a difference. She was fixed long before we got her - We got her and her sister in 2005.Both these cats are short hair - and such an extreme difference in shedding between the two. Other factors are the same, female, same litter, 5 years old, fixed, declawed, same food. She also seems to be in good health otherwise. She is the more playful of the two, and continues to be so. She is lively, bright eyed, and I see her eat and drink and go to the litter box in normal fashion.

Advice please. Why does my cat shed like there is no tomorrow?
I have two cats. One was just diagnosed with a UTI. =( He's on antibiotics. I also went and bought a bag of Purina Urinary Tract Health cat food, since I heard it's good. I read on the website that you're not supposed to mix it with other types of cat food. In other words, you're only supposed to feed your cat the Purina Urinary Tract food for maximum effectiveness. So my question is, should I just put down the Purina and take up the regular food? Is it safe for me to do that? Thanks guys! Any other tips on how to help my kitty feel better are welcome. This is his second UTI. (I think he's stressed b/c we just moved.)
