I know my question is a little confusing, but I was wondering will my cat like it if I feed him the same brand of food all the time or different brands? Also, should I feed him the same flavor, or is better to switch it up? I took my cat to the vet the other day because she seemed sick. It turned out she has some sort of infection of the urniary tract possibly due to crystals forming in her urine. Since this happened to her, she wont be able to eat regular food anymore (Friskies, Meow Mix etc.) because those types of foods caused the crystals to form. For the next couple of weeks I have to feed her some perscription food to help break up the crystal formations. Then after that, the vet told me that I have to buy this certain cat food to prevent this from happening again and its $20 bucks a 4 lb. bag! I dont mind paying for more expensive food, but I was hoping if anyone had any information on places where you can buy special diet type foods for less than what you would pay at the vet. Also, if anyone knew of a comparable food to buy in place of the expensive stuff that would be just as effective. Thanks for the help.

For wet food, I cover the can with wax paper then secure it with a rubber band before I put it in the fridge. For the dry, I use to keep the bag closed with a rubber band until I got cat litter in a bottle. When the bottle was empty, I cleaned it out properly and now keep the dry food inside. The added benefit was one less bottle in the garbage. So what are your tips?

My cat isnt too interested in dry food unless its treats. She does eat it when shes extremely hungry, but would rather just eat wet food (what cat wouldnt, right?!) and she gets one small can every morning. Im ashamed to admit but in the last few months (due to a combination of human illness, time, and budget constraints) weve been feeding our sweet feline friends only dry food (Science Diet). So, we are planning to return to an exclusively wet food diet (weve tried raw, which I know is best, but they wont go for it and honestly, as a 2 x full-time student household with an infant, its not sustainable.) So, I have a two-part question for introducing a fully wet diet: 1) How should we transition from dry kibbles to canned foods? 2) What brands are best?
