Is Premium Dog Food really more filling?
I am looking for what to feed my cats since everything else that I had tried seemed to get recalled one way or another. I am looking for an aswer as to whether or not you are feeding your cats Fancy Feast wet food (gluten free flavors), Purina dry food, Meow Mix dry food, or Meow Mix Select wet food. Or has anyone had a problem with these foods. Please don't answer by referring to the recall list. I have seen the list dozens of times. I am being precautionary and checking with people who are using these products or know people who are. Please don't suggest the better quality premium brands because I have to order them online as there are no retailers in my area. I was feeding my cats healthy foods and all ended up recalled. I have also heard that purina uses products from the US and the corn gluten in Meow Mix dry is of US origin.
Has anyone had any problems with Purina (Fancy Feast) or Meow Mix?
I live in a remote area of Canada, and the only types of cat food that are available locally are the mass market supermarket brands (Whiskas, Purina, Purina ONE, Iams, etc.). The only available premium type brand is Science Diet. I know that a lot of people recommend the all natural brands like Nutro, Innova, etc, and that in the US, these brands are typically similar in price to Purina ONE or Iams. However, the cost of purchasing these in Canada as well as shipping them to my location makes anything not available locally cost prohibitive. Of the major brands, which are the best for my cats? Looking at ingredient lists alone, Iams appears to heavily by product and corn meal laden. Purina One appears to be somewhat better than Science Diet. Any suggestions?
What is the best mass market brand of cat food?
We "free feed" our cats Purina One Sensitive System Formula dry food. Buf for a "treat" which seems to be about once a day now, they have me trained well....we feed them that new Meow Mix Premium wet food with no meat by products. It seems to sit well with them (aka not much puke to clean up), and I see why they call it "Meow" Mix when I rip off the top! LOL!
What do you feed your cat? Canned, dry food or both? Brand names?
This is actually a stray (and possibly neighbor's cat, although I don't think she's being well cared for, she has no collar, matted fur, and roams around the streets all night). I've been leaving 1/3 cup of Purina One Premium cat food on my porch every night for the last three weeks with some water. She's never rubbed her mouth/face against my hand before and her meow is now scratchy sounding. I hope I didn't do anything wrong in feeding her, esp. since I've never owned a cat.
My cat has developed a scratchy throat and keeps rubbing her face in my hand, is something wrong?
