The cat its about 5 months and hes living with me since 2 month ago. I'm feeding him Iams Premium Protection dry food and Purina Fancy Feast wet food Is This Healty??? New Cat Owner And I need help about nutrition?
I have a 4 yr old cat named Banana. Her whole life I've fed her Purina Cat Chow (I thought it was a good food-but now I know it's not). I want to switch her to a healthier food. She HATES wet food, so I can't give her any of that. I'm trying to find a good dry food for her that she will eat. I've tried Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul, but she won't touch it. She sniffs it and walks away. Does (or has) anyone have a picky cat and if so, what do you feed them? I DON'T want any answers that talks about Purina, 9 lives, Authority, Fancy Feast, Friskies, Iams, Meow Mix, Science Diet, Special Kitty or Whiskas. Sorry, but I am not going to feed her any of this. Thanks! To the ones who keep saying whiskas, special kitty, purina, etc are not bad brands: Look at the ingredients and then make that claim. They have artificial flavors and colors and by product meals. All of which are terrible for the cats and aren't digestible. You might want to do some research about the bad ingredients (like CORN) being put in these and see if you change your mind. So, I'm not being picky, I'm being a good owner and getting Hanna put on a healthy food. And, if I was going to let her starve, would I be searching so tirelessly for a healthy food for her instead of just buying the cheapest food on the planet. I'm choosing Hanna over my pocketbook.
What should I feed my cat?
Took him to the vet got ex-rays, nothings wrong there. Doc said to feed him wet food (Hills) no dry food of course he doesn't like this kind, will eat fancy feast. He's lost a pound, so I'm a little upset, tried mixing dry food (purina one) with water, instantly puked, ate wet food good one day, puked it the next day don't know what to do with him. He's a little over a year old, got him from the pound. Don't think he was wormed, but wouldn't he puke up worms if he had them? His puke is just whole food and saliva. He does have an appetite and wants to eat, but pukes up instantly, then vomits saliva and foam.

Okay, it has been more than 30 years since I had a kitten, and I don't even think there was such a thing as kitten food back then. So any way, my gentleman friend -- who has never had a kitten --just got himself a 9-week old kitty (yet to be officially named), and we can't find wet kitten food in our local markets. We got some Purina dry kitten chow (which he's not overly crazy about, but the only kitten food we have been able to find) but cannot find kitten food in a market that is within a 35 minute drive from either of us, and of course the local Agway pet center is not open when we are able to get theem (PetSmart also over an hour drive away). A couple of days ago we were near Walmart and I stopped in, but all they had was Fancy Feast kitten (one flavor only). I got a bunch of cans, but now what? We can't be driving two and a half hours every couple of weeks just to load up on kitten food at a store neither of us can stand shopping in. Nor do I want to him to be fed different brands willy-nilly. I don't relish ordering "unknowns" from the internet (minimum 24 cans...suppose he hates it or doesn't adjust to it?) The people who had been taking care of him had not fed him kitten food at all, and by all accounts he is in very good health. The vet visit is set for a week from today, but other than the usual (worms) I expect he is going to get a clean bill of health. Clean ears, clear, bright eyes, a powerful little mew, and I'm pretty sure he runs on NOS. ZOOOOOOM! So, how important is kitten food? Can we suffice with big cat food and some kitten crunchies for the next six months?

Hi guys, I am a new pet owner of a kitten. Been just about 10 days since I got him. I have been confused about what are good canned foods to pick from the supermarket aisle. I linger there for a long time not knowing for sure if I am picking a good and right one. What exact ones (brand as well as type of meat) is best to select? I see brands like purina, newman's, fancy feast, priority, at Tom Thumbs store. Someone had mentioned to not buy when it says "by-products" in the ingredient list. Almost all of them had by-product mentioned. Also, if it says "cats" on the can, is it good for kittens as well? What brand + meat (there's tuna, salmon, chicken, liver, beef, brown rice etc) combinations would you pick? Do give me some specific good choices? My kitty is about 2 months old. Thank you so much. PS: Other stores that I visit are Kroger, Walmart. There's also a Petsmart but never got food there yet. Thanks so much guys.. has helped a lot. Will go to petsmart next and stock up.

When we adopted our kitten, Buttercup, we were given a free bag of Science Diet. We tried feeding Buttercup Science Diet but she just sniffed it and walked away. Later when my family was eating at the table, Buttercup kept on meowing for our food. We did NOT feed her our food. I picked up Butter cup and put her near her bowl of Science Diet and she still didn't take a bite. I know that she was hungry so i am guessing she doesn't like Science Diet. I know that Science Diet is a high quality foot because the humane society where we adopted her recommended it and so did our vet. My only problem is that Buttercup will not eat it! My old cat lived to 18 years while eating Purina Cat Chow so we thought maybe Buttercup would like Purina Kitten Chow. We went to the store the next day and got Purina Kitten Chow for our kitten and she loved it. She ate up every piece we gave her. Should we continue with Purina Kitten Chow? She seems to like it, but when we told our vet she said that Science Diet was a much better choice for our kitten. A few days later we wanted to get Buttercup some canned food to give her some variety. We picked Fancy Feast for kittens. I saw it on commercials and my friend fed her cat Fancy Feast a lot and her cat seemed to like it. We purchased a few cans of the turkey one and Buttercup LOVED it. The moment I opened the can she meowed for it like crazy! So I know that Purina Kitten Chow and Fancy Feast aren't the best, but our kitten likes them instead of Science Diet. I want our kitten to be healthy but I don't want her to hate eating and continue meowing for our food at dinner time. What should I feet Buttercup? Wow, I had no idea brands like pedigree and fancy feast and purina were bad :/ I have recently been reading articles on the internet about this and I always thought those brands were good, now I'm wondering what in the world should I stay away from, from now on, and how do I know that people and companys are just saying those brands are bad just so you will by there product instead.. But I am kinda convinced they are bad now anyway.. So what should I feed my dog and cats now then.. I didn't buy my dog pedigree that often anyway but still.. What brands are good? that arn't really expensive.. If i had the money I would definatly buy my pets the best there is in the world, Well is chum a good dog food brand?
