What is the best cat food for persian cats?

Akiko

I recently got a persian cat and i got fancy feast food for him, but im wondering what the best food for persian cats is?

Angie

Two of my favorites are Evo can and Natures Variety. These 2 have no fillers or grain. Natures Variety dry version is small enough whereas a persian cat will not have problems eating it. Good luck with your new baby! I love the breed and have 5 of them ranging from 5 months to 17-1/2 years old.

I think purina cat food because all cats love them and eat them

Persians are no different than any other breed. Try to find a high quality cat food. Something that is grain free. They tend to be pricey but with one cat, that should not be a problem. Some brands that you could look at are:WellnessTaste of the WildThe Honest KitchenNatural Balance

I HAVE A PERSIAN, - he is 14, he eats. like a horse, he has some appetite. but i need to try to keep his weight, down as he does not get out, but he jumps up on furniture a lot, which i encourage for his exercises, he eats mainly commercial wet cat food, never DRIED FOOD, he all ready has had anal blocked glands, which dried food would add to this, he gets cooked meats sometimes, and tuna sometimes, u have to watch their weight, persian cats are also prone to respiratory, problems, so watch out for cats breathing, or wheezing, i discovered that when cat used to be left outside in all weathers, from previous owner of cat before i got him, and they must be groomed every day to lift off loose fur or he will get hairball he also gets de matted twice a year at vets, de flea once a month

I am sorry to say but unless you are planing to make your pet sick and spend hundreds of dollars in the vet then dont feed Fancy Feast or Purina like the other person said. All grocery store brands are filled with cheap fillers, by-products, colors and dyes, and deadly preservatives that has no nutritional value in your pets health. Cats are carnivores and are made for meat not grains and corn. There are tons of amazing products that are healthy for your cat. Ones that are made with human grade ingredients. Meaning it is the same stuff put into your turkey at thanks giving for say. These are the things you want to adovid when it comes to the ingredients in cat food;* meatbone meal - this is not meat at all. it is garbage bags, dead dogs and cats, road kill, eyeballs, poo, urine, everything that would make you barf.* by products - this is cleaned parts of meat that didnt make it healthy enough for human consumption. This includes, intestines, hooves, snouts, ears, stomach, and tails. This have very little protein in it and is not a healthy ingredient in pet food.* dyes and colors - If you look on the ingredients on the dry fancy feast near the end you will find colors like yellow55 or red02 for example. That is like food coloring that you would use to put color in playdo for little kids. Think how healthy that is if your cat eats it everyday.* preservatives - this includes BHA/BHT and ehoxiquin. BHA/BHT are known to cause liver faliures brain damage and worse. And ehoxiquin is known to cause cancer and blindness and deathness. Ehoxiquin is used to keep rubber firm and keep it bendyness. So again, healthy? NO.* Corn - this includes corn-gulten meal which is sord of the by product of corn. It is a gooey mess and is not good for your cat at all.* Grains - ahh grains, usually the number one ingredient in pet foods. it is full of cards giving your cat energy to keep it healthy and fit. well it really is aweful and that is why your cat gets tummy upsets. you may have seen the ad for fancy feast elegant meldoys with garden greens. Those garden greens and grains are not good at all! And will make your pet a usual member at the vet. Here are brands that are aweful and have most of those ingredients that I just said;Fancy FeastMeow MixScience DietIamsWhiskasPurina OnePurina FriskiesAll Purina brands really...nonamePC MCall grocery brandsThese are great brands;- Wellness Core - Wellness - Innova - Innova EVO - Felidae - Merrick - Merrick BG - Natural balance - Kirkland by Costco is even goodThese are expensive but when you think about it the money you are saving on cheap foods will soon end up in your vets poctects. Feed healthy and your cat will live a long and healthy life.

Actually not every dry food works for Persians because their flat faces cant pick the pieces up. Of the grain free/high protein foods Blue Buffalo Wilderness and Innova Evo have large enough pieces for them to pick up. Royal Canin Persian 30, with its special football-shaped pieces, is even easier for them to pick up but it does contain grain and is only 30% protein. My Persian and Exotic Shorthair (shorthaired Persian) eat a mix of these three foods as well as either Innova Evo, Merricks, Tiki Cat or Weruva canned food daily. I hope youre aware of how much work caring for a Persian is. Their coats need daily grooming during shedding season and at least every other day all year long. And you cant brush the coat - it needs to be COMBED. Brushes pull out and break the top coat hairs and do little to remove the loose hair in the undercoat. A good quality steel-toothed comb with teeth of a good length is really all you need to keep your cat mat free. The best combs are the ones by Greyhound but I really like my Bamboo one. To keep the eye area free of tear stains get Eye Envy - http://www. eyeenvy. com Itll also remove any existing stains and keep the eyes from getting goopy. If you have any other questions about Persian care add them to your question and Ill answer. Ive had my Persian for three years and the Exotic for two and theyre both now show cats so I do LOTS of grooming.
