What is the difference between dogcat food and dogcat treats?

Cara

Why are there dog/cat treats that can only be given to pets a few times a day? Are they fattening? I was looking at some of the ingredients of a premium pet food and I was thinking: If pets love their food so much (assuming they do), couldnt you just give them a grain of dog/cat food instead of a dog treat as a reward? Both have meat-like stuff in it, both satisfy the pet, and isnt the pet food better for them? Is there some specific component in dog/cat treats that make them so much more appealing than pet food AND makes them so bad for them that they can only be given treats a few times a day?

Cat food and treats have birds in them. Dog food and treats have cats in them.¿

Treats for pets are like sweets for us. Too much and it can bring on other problems like weight gain, dental problems, diarrhea and numerous other conditions. A regular diet of your preferred dog/cat food will ensure that your pet receives the proper nutrition. Treats should be given sparingly in between meals.

They normally only recommend to feed the treat a few times a day as they are just a treat. they wouldnt have the correct nutritional content to be fed as a complete food, plus i would imagine it would cost you a fortune to feed treats as a main food

I cannot say I know this subject, but what I will say its more than a guess. I believe the difference between dog food and treats is the same as in human food and treats. Food sustains, keeps the body healthy. Treats are like candy, pleasant to get, but cannot sustain by themselves, are not good for the body if eaten to the exclusion of normal food. I also believe dog food cannot be both in good taste and nutritious. Such a balance is hard to get in human food. With dogs, with their superior sense of smell, could be impossible. It is not good to feed treats exclusively. I assume the animal will not be healthy in the long run. Besides, after a while the dog may refuse to eat normal food if presented.

Pet treats should be given as rewards. Thats why they are called TREATS. If you give them too often, the animals wont eat their regular foods, which are better for them on a regular basis. Pet treats are candy, basically. You wouldnt give your kids candy for nutrition, but as a treat, right? Think of that when giving the dog or cat a treat. There isnt much difference between cat and dog foods, other than the ingredients that the animals enjoy. Most pet foods have by-products that we wouldnt even consider putting in hot dogs or bologna, but theyre okay for food for the animals. Also, the vitamins and amounts of the nutritional suppliments in pet foods differs for dogs and cats. Those are the main differences. (By the way, my cat raids the dogs dish next door when its Kal Kan (r) time, so its okay for the moist stuff.)

I think there is no difference between the foods, if I give my dog some cat food, hell eat it and if I give my cat some dog food, hell eat it. If they didnt eat it, then I knew that it meant that there is something in the food that only cats and dogs could eat and nothing has happened to them if I gave them each others foods to eat. I dont know why they make separate kinds of food. The animals even eat sometimes our food. So whats the problem, why dont they make one tipe of food that cats and dogs can eat, thats the same and we can save money, for not buying separate foods for our cats and dogs!

Dogs and cat treats do different thing for the animals like the dogs is supposed to give the dog muscle and the cats is supposed to give them the rite amout of boy weight to fit form their bodies.
