I am looking for some recipes for homemade cat food?

Benjamin

Since the problem with the commercial cat food, I would like to make my own, using good quality meat, chicken and fish. I do feed tuna on occasion, using a good brand of albacore low sodium, water pack, for my 15 year old male, however I am aware that they can become malnourished if they do not get the proper vitamins, taurine, etc. They also eat a good brand of dry food. Any help would be appreciated.

I wish I could help since I am looking also. I have found many recipes that either dont have enough nutrition for a cat or it calls for things bad for cats. avoid recipes calling for onions or garlic because these can cause deadly heinz body anemia in cats and dogs. ( see http://www. peteducation. com/article. cfm?… ).cats who eat fish need extra vitamin E or they are at risk for streatitis also called yellow fat disease. ( http://www. cat-world. com. au/FeedingFish.… ) so unless it is an occasional treat tuna should not be a regular food unless given with the proper amount of vitamin e. also cats cant convert beta carotene to vitamin A nor use the fats in flax the way humans do. so many natural cat foods add flax to no effect. Human bodies can convert the fatty acids in flax to EPA and DHA. Cats lack this ability. sorry i can only give cautions and not a proper healthy recipe. If I find one before this question closes I will come back and post it.

Cook rice and mix it with any kind of blue fish. The easiest is to take a pack of sardines or tuna, but you can use any fish, as long as its cooked or marinated ( if you use raw fish, your cat will definitely love it, but your apartment will smell like fish market)

I would go ahead and buy a dry food with lots of vitamins and minerals and then pour milk over it and heat it up to moisten the food, then mix it up with tuna. I have never tried it but we did do something similar for my puppies and they loved it, so i would give it a try. good luck =)

Don`t give your cat milk it causes diarrhea
