How do i make my own cat food?

Marge

How could I make home-made healthy, nutritious, tasty and (most importantly) actually EDIBLE cat food for my cats? What ingredients should I include for one whole meal? I want something that my cats will actually benefit from eating, instead of that gloop from the shop. If someone wants to recommend a good cat food I can buy, please do, but bare in mind I live in the UK.

I personally feed a ground Raw Meat, Bones and Organ based diet to my cats and they are incredibly healthy on it. I HIGHLY recommend it. While scary at first, once I got the hang of it and felt comfortable with it its a snap to prepare. Cats are obligate carnivores after all and must derive ALL their nutrients from meat based sources. They are unable to absorb them from any other source. Despite thousands of years of domestication they remain strictly carnivorous. True and honest meat eaters and that is what they need most. Protein from meat! If you are interested in feeding a raw diet some great places to start learning are http://www. catinfo. org/ , http://www. catnutrition. org/ , and http://www. felinefuture. com/nutrition/ .If you would like to try raw with your cats and don’t want to get all technical about it but want to try a trusted, time tested and balanced raw diet you can order from http://www. felinespride. com/products/cat… . I purchased this myself when I first started and my cats loved it! Another premade Raw you can try is Natures Varity. I personally have never used this but know many people that do and it’s pretty easy to find http://www. naturesvariety. com/content. la…Heres a bunch of websites to help you learn what you need to know. http://www. catinfo. org/http://www. catnutrition. org/http://www. rawfedcats. org/http://www. felinespride. com/http://www. felinefuture. com/http://www. felineinstincts. com/index. htm…http://www. raisingcatsnaturally. com/http://www. blakkatz. com/index.http://www. holisticat. com/http://goldcoastragdolls. com/MyOwnCatFoo…http://www. mypetcarnivore. com/rawfeeding…

You can get great recipe ideas by joining a marvelous online listgroup: WholeCatHealth. Ive listed their URL at the end. Dr. Michael W. Fox, a former president of the Humane Society and author of a syndicated column that appears in newspapers worldwide, offers a terrific recipe -- URL below. Just try right here:http://www. pets. ca/forum/forumdisplay. ph…They know everything, I swear. They have a whole section devoted to home made meals:http://www. pets. ca/forum/forumdisplay. ph…You need mostly meat. Veggies and fruits are added, and supplements. Theres home cooked food, which is obviously cooked, like a stew or something. Then theres the RAW diet which Ive heard is amazing! I cant do it though because Im a vegetarian. http://www. pets. ca/articles/article_raw.…No grains though remember :)For the RAW diet, you just grind up meats, freeze them to kill off germs and bacteria, and then defrost when ready for dinner. Alternatives to home made diets in sources.

It is almost impossible to make cat food that is 100% correct for cats. Cats require a lot of protein, low carbohydrates, some vegetable manner, and lots of moisture since cats have a low thirst drive. If your cat is healthy and not in need of a special diet, a good quality dry food with some canned food is the best. Ive used Hills Science Diet for years with great results.
