What is the best cat food to feed an indoor cat that throws up alot with no found reason?

Kelley

Ive already taken her to more than one vet and no one finds anything wrong. Ive tried adjusting her diet a couple of times but Im thinking that maybe Im just going from one crappy food to another. What is truly a good cat food brand?

What country are you in???several rules of thumb apply1 if its in a grocery store or wal mart its crap2 if it contains by-Products its crap3 if you see a lot of commercials for it.. its crap (they are putting money into advertising NOT ingredients)4 food reccommended by Vets is NOT necessarily good food.. especially if the vet is selling it themself.....most of the time vomiting is because the lower quality foods us a trick.. they use FAT to give the pets a shiney coat... most owners think a shiney coat = a healthy pet = a good food...however these foods dont use qualty ingredients so the pets have to eat A LOT more food to get any nutrition.. eating more = eating more fat.. Fat is hard on their tummy - > sooo the vomit!!!!simple math really...ok you want a food with CHICKEN MEAL, LAMB MEAL, or TURKEY MEAL as # 1 ingredient.. has no by-Products (beaks feet and feathers)..you will only find good foods a pet supply stores...(or sometimes livestock supply stores)

Iams cat food has a high degree of meat (not by products) so the protein level is good. My cats wont eat it though. They like Purina One dry, which has a high percentage of meat also. I feed both wet/dry. Wet is good for their skin, organs, coat (it has more fat and moisture in it. Wet food is Friskies, or Whiskas...grocery store quality, but I make sure it is meat as first ingredient, not corn or wheat. Your cat may be eating too fast and spontaneously vomiting from a full stomach. Try serving several smaller portions of wet throughout the day (one can per day) along with a bowl of dry food, for balance. good luck.

May just be a sensitive stomach. You will have to try different brands till you find the one that works for your kitty, sorry no cheap ones. We had this problem too with an older Siamese. Ended up with Purina One for sensitive stomachs. And add a little canned cat food about once a day.

Go to Itchmo. com - they have a forum thread devoted to catfood experiences. Many of the regulars have kitty problems like yours. Do your homework and read through the posts - I am sure you will find something that may work for your cat. In the interrim, my advice is to feed your kitty a grainless cat food like Natures Variety Instinct; Wellness Core; Innova Evo. These cat foods are not available in groceries or box stores. You will find them in pet specialty shops or feed stores or you can buy them on-line. These are top brands that use human-grade ingredients, use no by-products, no synthetic preservatives, no grains. Your kitty could also benefit from a multi-enzyme and some pro-biotics to help digest the food she eats. If she is vomiting up the food and the food looks like it is undigested, I would give 1/4 a human-grade multi-enzyme tablet 1/2 hr before a meal once a day. This will help digestion and help kitty keep food down. You can stop once kittys own enzymes kick in. The multi-enzymes I use for my cats is a human grade one from Puritans Pride.

IAMs or Purina Pro Plan are good brands.

Try feeding good quality wet foods (see posts above) but only a small spoonful at a time. And make sure the cat isnt eating any plants in the house. My cats eat any live plant I get and then barf them up. We always have dry food available, even then they barf up the dry. But slowing down the eating has helped a lot.
