What is the best and healthiest canned cat food?

Abram

I was feeding my cats Chicken Soup For The Pet Lovers Soul canned cat food but the company cant seem to keep their formula consistant, so sometimes my cats will eat it and sometimes they wont. I am sick of going through this so I need to change cat foods. I wont use the Wellness brand because it contains garlic. I just had them try New Balance but that contains fish meal which is a by-product. I am clueless. And for those of you who are going to mention an all natural raw diet, that is not an option for me. Thanks!

My first recommendation is Wellness, but if youre concerned about the garlic you might want to try Eagle Pack - its a good brand and has not been affected by the recalls. It has some grains, but is still pretty low carb. This page is a good resource - it lists foods unaffected by the recalls:http://www. thepetfoodlist. com/This link has recommendations on good canned foods, and how to choose a good canned food:http://www. catinfo. org/commercialcannedf…

Merrick makes a great canned food and so does Natures variety

Innova EVO is by far the best quality cat food on the market. Even better then Wellness. This food contains no grain as it is based on a natural, raw diet...but cooked to kill off potentially harmful bacteria. The EVO contains no garlic if that is a concern for you. Check out their website at www. naturapet. com and click on the link to EVO. This is the best so you cant go wrong.

Ive heard very good things about Innova Evo wet food but we havent tried it yet. The cats do eat the Innova Evo dry, though and really like it; but I digress. I feed Merrick wet food. They have a great variety of flavors and it is a very high quality food. And most importantly, it isnt and wont be on the recall list.

Im reluctant to "recommend" canned foods right now. Sure as I do the day will bring a problem with the brand. That said, I do feed my cats all types of Natural Balance, Avoderm, Innova, By Natures Organic, Lick Your Chops. They do not care for any of the Merricks (love the name though). If I use Felidae or Newmans they eat the meat and leave the veggies on the plate. I am considering ordering Artemis from Pet Food Express. Sort of reluctant to get cases of 12 or 24 cans and find out they dont like it. I also feed the cats a home-prepared raw meat diet. I use organic chicken and turkey alternately. They have that for dinner.

I would also recommend Innova Evo canned. For the same reasons that it does not contain any grains. My cats are very picky eaters---they sometimes like Natural Balance, but even those flavors are hit or miss...sometimes they would eat one flavor and the next time they would leave it and Id have to throw it away. My cats also did not like canned Spots Stew or Natures Variety. http://www. naturapet. com/brands/evo. asp
