How would you make your own cat food?

Nieves

Ive been feeding my eldest cat dried food for a long time, but Im worried that shes not getting enough water as she doesnt seem to drink a great deal. Shes 11 now and I want to preserve her health. What would be the best thing to feed her?

I have some links that will show foods that a cat should not eat. http://www. peteducation. com (Foods to Avoid)http://www. bellaonline. com/articles/art1…http://www. cat-world. com. au/FeedingFish.…

Grayce

Tuna.

Catrina

I would try cooking some fish and then mashing it up a bit

Im feeding my kitty homemade chicken and she wont just stop eating it. she likes it. you should try making chicken without oil because its not good for cats or dogs. make the chicken with water, it gives the natural flavor for your cat. hope you can feed your cat this. ps, dont feed your cat the skin or fatty.

Shelli

Cat food in pouches, either in jelly or in gravy. They have all the nutrients required. Dried cat food on long term can be damaging to the kidneys.

Get her a nice bit of fish etc, etc mince. But If she is 11 she is an old cat and too drastic a change might do her more harm than good? Just Google! it or try herehttp://www. holisticat. com/rawdiet.

Cats are designed to obtain most of their water with their diet since their normal prey contains approximately 75 percent water. Try switching her to canned food, preferably the ones without gravy. The web articles below, explain why wet food is healthier for cats, and also how to make your own cat food if you want to try that. http://www. catinfo. org/index. htmhttp://www. catinfo. org/makingcatfood. htmhttp://www. selfgrowth. com/articles/Cats_…

You can certainly try to feed your cat a raw diet, but it can be difficult to get kibble junkies to accept meat as food. Sometimes a first step in switching to raw is switching to canned food. I would encourage you to investigate raw feeding, which is the very best you could do. I suggest joining the raw feeding groups you can find at Yahoo Groups. Also see a recipe listed at www. catinfo. org (I have to add the spaces because this link makes YA get snippy). For now, perhaps just try switching to a good canned food.
