Tips for Choosing a Cat Bed

Owners who treasure their pet cats only want the best for them. Beginning from nutrition, health, hygiene and even up to their comfort and the beds that they sleep in, particular attention should be given.

Choose one that has an appropriate size. The only thing that you will be taking into account while choosing a bed based on its size is on how big your cat is. Ideally, the bed should have an area that is enough for your cat to sleep in and still have a little extra space to stretch its body.

You may have one that is too big for your cat's size. However, this will only be acceptable if the size of your place permits it.

Ease of use. This pertains to the ease by which your cat can get in and out of its bed. Small kittens need lower beds for them to easily get on top of it. The same may be true for old cats that have slower movements. They can get into bed easier when it is lower in height.

At the same time, the bed needs to have walls that are not too high. The entrance should be easily accessible and it should not have barriers that are too high.

Choose based on the fabric. Your cat's comfort may be based on the fabric from which the bed is made. Natural fabrics are the most ideal for your pet. The material is soft enough. Also, these produce the least number of allergies.

Examples of natural fabrics that would be perfect for you to have for your cat include cotton, wool, and feathers.

You may also go for synthetic fibers as well. But if you are avoiding the development of allergies in your cat, make sure that they synthetic materials used as certified to be hypoallergenic.

Fabric that is allowed for machine wash is also a good one to get. This will save you time in effort in cleaning the bed manually.

Look at the location. Before you buy the bed, have an idea where you can put it. This way you will be able to see the shape and size of bed that will fit and look good in that area. Also consider the temperatures of the area where you plan to place the beds. Consider what season it is. Your cat will be more comfortable in a place that is warmer.

Bring during travels. When you need to travel with your cat and you don't expect to come back at least a few days, your cat will love it if you can bring its bed. You may leave the bulky bed that it is using at home and just purchase one that is smaller, lighter, and more convenient to carry.

Go for quality and durability. There are a lot of cats which enjoy playing on their beds and with it. They can bite and snip on its sides. This action can easily damage the bed. Therefore, you need to find one that will be able to withstand such mutilation.
