What are the best brands of indoor cat food?

I am considering getting a cat this summer. I would be getting a siberian kitten about 10 weeks old. I had a puppy and fed her the best foods (Blue Buffalo) and now I want to give my cat the best food. I would like a brand that has food adequate for indoor cats and that has both a wet and dry formula. I heard that Felidae, Nutro, Natural Balance and Solid Gold were good brands. I prefer something that is sold in stores. Thanks!

The same quality rules apply to cat food as they do to dog food, with the added rule - cats dont need grains, corn especially. Ideally, your cat would be eating all canned, as thats as close to their natural diet that you can get without feeding raw. Blue Buffalo is a fine food for cats as well as dogs. Natural Balance is also very good. Mine wont eat Felidae, so Im not familiar with that one. Nutro is the least-good of your list - it contains a lesser quality of meat, and the dry and canned contain corn glutens which is a protein source that cats dont need. The whole concept of "indoor formula" is a marketing gimmick. I belive that some of these foods are meant to be lower in fat and calories on the concept that an indoor cat is less active, but youre shortchanging your cats nutrition this way. A cat fed the proper amount of a species-appropriate diet isnt going to have a weight issue, "indoor formula" or otherwise.

I feed my cat Royal Canin. Most of the breeders use so I assume its good. She is doing great on it. I give her wet dry, She is a Persian.

Those are all good cat foods, however, if you are looking for something that can be found in most pet stores, try Science Diet. Weve been feeding that to my cat since we got her 4 years ago, and it can be purchased in many pet stores, including PetCo and PetSmart.
