What cat food is lower in calorieswet or dry?

I was under the assumption that wet food is higher in calories and fat, and im trying to help my cat lose some weight. So what is an ideal "meal plan" for her? Should I feed all dry, all wet or a combo of both?

A better solution would be to switch to a corn and wheat free diet wet or dry. The carbs are what make cats gain weight. Try a light food like Chicken Soup for the Cat Lovers Soul light adult. Any higher quality food will help her loose weight because it contains protein rather than carbs.

Dry food is (often) much better for diets and health concerns. There are a lot of healthy brands out there, so just do some quick research online or at your local pet supply store, and find a healthy dry brand for her. There is no need to mix it with wet food. If she has tooth sensitivity or problems, you can always wet the dry food with a little water. If that isnt an issue, there is no need to mix. As to how often you feed her, call your vet and ask, or as an employee at the pet supply store (they field questions like that all the time.)

You need to look for a high quality wet food which is high protein/low carbohydrate and avoid anything which contains the usual grains/cereals and fillers which are in the cheap dry food you can buy over the counter. It is possible to buy good quality dry food such as Applaws or Orijen, both of which contain about 80% chicken and no grains, but ideally your cat should have wet food in order to prevent urinary problems. The wet food I use is Bozita or Grau and it is supplemented with a small amount of Applaws.
