What can you give a cat to eat besides regular cat food?

Jacques

I want to feed the one we are watching for a couple from church. Is there anything I can give her besides regular cat food for a treat or something? Thanks.

Coreen

One of my cats loves cooked chicken. My 2 other cats love tuna!

Alfreda

Try some beef liver (yuk!) they love it raw and in small amounts it is so good for them so a small piece will give them a shiny coat and moist nose.

I had a cat that liked a can of tuna once in a while to give something besides pet food all the time there are also cat treats you can buy to feed them.

Fern

Eggs, which are easily digested (and good for them, see http://answers. yahoo. com/question/index?…Greenies they tend to like as a treat and its good for their teeth.

Arlena

Chicken, fish or ham, dont give it as a meal tho or the cat will want it all the time instead of cat food!

Cats do really well on raw meat. In fact, they get fewer UTIs and other cat issues when fed a raw food diet, as long as its researched and balanced. They lOVE organ meats, you can find them at the frocery store; often chicken livers, etc come in plastic tubs and are inexpensive. You can feed the bits of chicken that come stuffed in a roaster... The neck, raw, is great for their bones and the other organ meats in there will be a treat. At the pet store, you can buy packaged cat treats. They have a lot of preservatives, so they arent soemthing to feed often. Also, you can grow the cat grass, or buy a little ready to go tub at pet stores; they are great for cats and nutritious. Cats love em!!Milk is something kittens can digests as they have the enzymes to handle Moms milk; as they grow, cats become lactose intolerant and mild makes them sick. In general, when buying food for a cat, buy good quality. The first ingredients should be the meat, not corn or by-products or any fillers. Cats must have protein and fat to survive and have very necessary vitamins and minerals for eyesight, heart and other basic functions like kidney. A mix of Canned and dry is best! Enjoy the cats love and company.

Raw or cooked meat is usually a hit, and its quite good for them. Cats are obligate carnivores, which means they HAVE to eat meat to live, and really arent meant to eat anything else - most commercial kibbles arent that good for cats, since they have a lot of grain in them. Give a housecat a bit of lunch meat or chicken liver and youll probably have a friend for life.
