What the best dry cat food in the united states?

Janette

Please dont say Science Diet or any other store brand food. Apparently these arent all that good for your cat. Has anyone tried Chicken Soup for the Catlovers Soul with their cats or any other high quality food?

Grisel

Yes Science Diet is TERRIBLE stuff - did you know they PAID for vet endorsement??Vets actually receive very little or NO education in terms of food brands and ingredients so when a Science Diet rep approaches them to sell the food, they often do it - Why do vets recommend the food?? BECAUSE THEY MAKE MONEY SELLING IT!!!!!!!!!! (anyone who isnt familiar with food and ingredients should learn about this and will see this food is CRAP - over priced becuase of how they market it, but still CRAP)I was unfamilair with the food you named (I am in Canada) so looked it uplooked very good to me, NO by-productsNO BHT, BHANO SOYchicken and turkey - good - gentle on the tummyI didnt see if it said "human grade meat" Felidae, and Wellness are other goods one I know of in the USI wouldnt recomend anything less than NUTRO NATURAL CHOICE (widely available but not human grade meat)*** ADDITIONAL NOTE*** - I am sure you know but this is for other readers sake - IAMS used to be good, but Proctor and Gamble bought out this company (and Eukanuba) years ago, and now both are not good.. PLUS linked to cruelty - www. iamscruelty. com

Bumble Bee tuna

Dry dog food is terrible for cats, since felines have higher fat demands than dogs do. Tuna is also nutritionally incomplete, and high in mercury. Constant feeding builds the toxins in stored fats, eventually causing neurological damage. I like the human-quality pet foods. Wellness, from the well known Three Dogs Bakery, and Royal Canin are two that only use deboned chicken and natural ingredients. By the way, Science Diet is veterinary recommended simply because such partnerships subsidize veterinary practices. While non-human grade food technically is fine, the claim that its preferable over human-quality pet food is apocryphal. (Consider Walmarts Old Roy pet food, Natures Recipe, and the countless other lines that have killed countless pets with bad batches, and had to be recalled.)I say, err on the side of caution.

Well why dont you want to ahve your cats eat science diet??? thats dumb. Why would you waist your money on expensive food, when science diet and other store brand food is just as good?? you idoit! MY CATS EAT IT AND THEIR JUST FINE!

Nutro dry cat food-have a 13 yr old cat who is spry, has a shiny coat and in perfect health and she has always eaten NUTRO Brand dry catfood-has no byproducts like Science diet-the waste parts of an animal when they say byproduct. Youll have to go to a Pet supply store like Petsmart to purchase. Store Brands are fine-not Grocery stores but Pet food Store as long as in the contents it does not say Byproducts. and has sufficient Taurine-something your cat needs. Also too much fish based cat foods not good for too much Mercury. Happy shopping for your kitty.

Science Diet is recommended and sold by vets. My cats have been on it for years and are actually healthier than they used to be before I fed it to them.

Go to this website: naturapetproducts. com. These products are by far the best out there, I cant say enough good things about them. Innova EVO is the best cat food currently available. Store brand foods are almost poison to pets, people should be told. Spread the word. Also the food brand Wellness is very good

Ive heard that a lot of people feed their cats boneless skinless chicken breasts, or BS chicken tenderloins. If youre looking to feed your cat some beef try Ground Extra Lean beef (96% lean), or Lean ground beef (93% lean). The best brand of dry cat food is Purina One Adult Indoor Formula. It has the highest meat content, vitamins and minerals necessary for a cat. Just a little reminder dont put your cat on a strictly vegetarian diet, cats are naturally carnivores and they wont get the nutrition they need.

Whatever brand that doesnt cause the cat to projectile vomit or have diarrhea..! I currently use IAMs Multi Cat formula because I have 4 cats - two young adults (3yrs olds) and two seniors (8yr olds)... Ive experimented with several different kinds of foods - cheap to expensive... Ive been told by my vet that it doesnt really matter what kind of food - once you find one that works, stick to it... Changing diets leads to the irritable bowel issues and finicky eating habits...My vet also mentioned that IAMs is one of the highest calorie cat foods on the market - so I moniter their food intake carefully and make sure they get plenty of exercise to work off the extra pudginess. Also - Ive read that white chicken is good for them, or adding a touch of chicken broth to their foods... And occassionally they can eat soft grain white rice (not brown - its too hard for them to digest)- the white rice helps them maintain "regularity." --- Ive never done the rice thing myself, but they do get the occasional chicken as a treat.

I find that dried food is the best because the breath of cats doesnt smell as badly as it does after they eat canned cat food! My cats eat: Meow Mix, Purina Cat Chow, Royal Canin, and many others you dont want me to name.
