When do you start feeding a cat quotadultquot cat food?

Armanda

More specifically, is 5-6 months way too young for the adult food? (the bag of cat food doesnt say what age it is for)

Briana

Your cat doesnt need "kitten food." Its a sales gimmick to get you to buy a second type of food which is sometimes more expensive than adult food. Feed your kitten adult food and just make sure he gets fed more. He does need more nutrition and he will get better nutrition from the Chicken Soup than any Purina product.

It shouldnt be mine youngest is probably about 4-5 months and thats all hes eaten since hes been off the bottle.(i rescued him at 2 weeks old) if you kitten doesnt eat it try kitten food. i would have for mine but i have 2 older cats and i buy a huge bag that last a month rather thn the tiny bag that last a week. my cats are fat!

You can call a local veterinary clinic they can answer your question.

Only cheap, crappy foods specify theyre for "kittens" or "adults". Healthy foods have the right balance of protein and fat and list "all ages" on the bags. Instead of buying your made-mostly-of-corn cheap cat food at the grocery store or WalMart find a specialty store that sells foods with meat as the main ingredient and little to no grain. Innova Evo, Blue Buffalo Wilderness and Petcurean Go! Natural are all 45-50% meat protein and grain free. Evo and Petcurean you can find by searching the manufacturers websites for stores near you. Wilderness can be found at PetSmart. You should also be feeding your kitten/cat canned food daily as well as an all dry diet - even of a quality food - isnt healthy for them http://www. littlebigcat. com/index. php? ac…

When we got my cat we started feeding her adult food around 6-7 months. The vet said around 6 months is good. I use Purina ONE adult cat food Salmon flavor( she absolutely adores salmon flared food)
