How can we keep yellow jackets meat eating wasps ants way from our dry cat food?

Hi~ We have two outdoor cats that we feed outside. We have a real problem with ants yellow Jackets swarming the food. Does anybody have any idea on keeping them out of their food. We only feed dry cat food ( Royal Canin). We are also leaving for a week and like to leave food out for them. Thanks for the help! Jennifer
