My cat just had a massive operation on his digestive system and I want to know what is the best kind of cat food, he usually has Whiskas and I know there are better ones but he has always liked it. He cant really have gravy foods because they dont agree with him and I have heard they arent as good anyways. Could you please tell me what the best brand of cat food is that I can get access to in Australia? And what about meats and meat preparation if I want to make him some myself? What about biscuits?

Science Diet is probably the best type of food, with a variety of different types for sensitive stomachs, allergies, medical needs, etc. After that, theres Eukanuba/Iams which is very good as well. Purina isnt too bad either and is easier on the budget, but you do have to watch the fat content as it has more than the other two brands, which cats prefer, but isnt all that good for them. Gravy/canned foods are not good for pets due to the amount of fat and some ingredients put into them, as well as not being good for their teeth. However, mixing a little canned food w/ the dry food to get him eating isnt bad as long as you dont do it all the time and might be a good way to adjust him to his new diet.

Fresh fish, boiled and then mashed. Remove hard fishbones and just feed it to your cat. He/She will love it. Processed catfoods not so good because they always have additives to preserve it so its not going to be good for your pet.

My friends cat had an operation on his stomach and she bought him Hills Science Diet Feline Sensitive Stomach. He did good with it and it didnt make him sick.

First of all, stay away from dry food. Remember, cats are obligate carnivores so foods with meat as the first ingrediant and as little or no grains is the best If you cant find anything, a raw food diet may be the way to go as you can control what is in it.
