Hi~ We have two outdoor cats that we feed outside. We have a real problem with ants yellow Jackets swarming the food. Does anybody have any idea on keeping them out of their food. We only feed dry cat food ( Royal Canin). We are also leaving for a week and like to leave food out for them. Thanks for the help! Jennifer

Weve had many unwanted visitors come to our back door because there is cat food. Possums, other peoples cats, etc. etc. We just feed the cats indoors. Since that isnt an option for you, perhaps you should pay a neighbor to put out two servings of cat food once a day. When your cats get used to her timing, theyll be right there to eat it up, and the ants/bees may clean up, but there wont be any swarms. TX Mom

Crack ur garage open a little ways and put the food in there

This is a good question. Like someone said, if you have a garage crack the door. Or perhaps keep them inside while your gone.

Well, The best I can come up with is an automatic feeder, one of those tubes that you fill up and then turn upside down, they have like a bowl you screw on, the food fills the bowl automatically... then the yellow jackets and wasps at least wouldnt have SO MUCH food to swarm, eh Most of it would be up in the tube, protected. Heres a real fancy one:http://www. perfectpetfeeder. com/?gclid=C…But you can find some inexpensive ones at your local pet store. Just ask for the automatic pet feeders!

Never in all my day did i see anything go after catfood. get a self feeder, and keep it off the ground. that will solve the ant issue. maybe install a bug zapper for the wasps. hope it helps. those bug deterents that use high frequency sound waves actually work if you can afford one. its worth it in the long run, you will never need an exterminator or pesticides.

You can spray the aria where you pout the cat food with insurgencies before you pout the food but to keep the yellow jackets you must use a different spray for them
