What type of wild animal would be picky about dry cat food?

We have some sort of animal living in our attic. We know because we hear him scratching around every now and then--and I put some dry cat food up there to confirm that we werent just hearing things. Well, the food was definitely moved around, but it doesnt seem like much was consumed--if any.
