I have two cats. Yes my cats refuse his canned food sometimes. I think they are just sick of it. So i bought a cat book from the book store that comes with recipe. basically what was written there was, u can feed them spaghetti, vegetables, fish, chicken, beef etc. But not when u mixed them with salt. I tried not to feed them with food mixed with salt but they too have taste bud and i spoiled them royally so yeah, i gave them what i eat sometimes (not all the time). At the same time i watch their health. The rationale behind salt intake on cats i think has to do with the UTI problem among cats. Too much of this, they will have problem urinating. it could be painful watching them in pain. So my recipes for my cats are non salted boiled beef/steamed fish/boiled chicken breasts/canned food of different varieties. I would swap their menu for breakfast, lunch, dinner etc. If they refused canned food i will stop giving it for two days, feed them shredded chicken/beef/lamb etc. instead. Then after 2 days, they kind of want the canned food back. Try it.

A cat should not be fed a diet totally of people food. You need to stop and put them back on cat food. Not only can some human food be toxic to cats, but they arent able to digest some of it as well, especially dairy products. And there are many essential ingredients they need that cannot be found in a diet of anything other than cat appropriate food. If youre worried about the recall, than you can always look up what foods are not on the list. There are plenty of webpages that are constantly being updated with whats ok and what isnt. I feed my cats Innova Evo, which is not on the recall list. Its a very good high quality cat food.

I would not advise feeding your cat table foods for too long. This can lead to problems such and overweight, digestion problems, and a whole lot more. Cat food is the best choice for, well, a cat!

Some cats will throw up on cheap cat foods. I say try a better brand such as Proplan or Eukanuba my cat threw up on Purina One or any that had a higher amount of corn in it. The cat needs more vit. and certain minerals than what is in the table food and Ham is not good for cats because of the high salt content.

Cats can usual vomit due to over feeding, if you feed them too much in one go theyll guzzle it down and it will bounce right back up, try wetting the dry food (if it is dry food you are feeding) with some fresh drinking water, and feed maybe half as much as you are giving him in two separate feedings, in other words, feed him/her little but more often, also feeding him/her table scraps can cause obesity, not only that it is bad for the cat to get familiar with human food as it will soon"hunt" your trash bag, also im not sure that you are aware than in canned tuna, there is a enzyme with allows the tuna to have a very long shelf life, this enzyme is very harmful to cats because it is poisonous in large amounts and cant be exctreted naturally from the cats system, therefore will be build up and can cause a fatality.

My brother swears by cat food only....he says that table food makes the cat poop smell worse and makes it soft.....I do recommend calling your vet....that is if they become bloated, and get the runs....i would just watch them and what sort of table scraps you feed them....

There are nutrients in cat food that cats need. Try switching brands to see if it helps. When in doubt, consult your vet.

Yes. I had two cats one of 16 and one of 15 that lived off of people food. They had different preferences - but a lightly cooked meat without sauce, salt etc with occasionally some yogurt or cheeses. One liked cod liver oil and bread. Both ate canned tuna. They were both healthy and the vet thought i brushed their teeth! Read the cat food label. Theres nothing there you cant duplicate without the pesticides and plastics. Dont overfeed - look at the size of bugs and mice - think of small servings. Nothing with additives. And please do not try to make a vegetarian cat - it has all those sharp teeth so it can kill things. Cats need some greens too - houseplants, lettuce etc to chew on.

There are certain things in cat food they cannot get in people food. For instance, bone meal. You have to pretty much order that online, but everything else is available at the grocers. There are several recipes available online if you google.

There are lots of kinds of pet foods that didnt make animals sick, try those.

If you are very leery of commercial cat food (as many people have become now), you should make them their own cat food. Giving them people food or scraps from the table is not bad per se, but could be detrimental to their health in the long run. Many food thats we eat are not compatible to a cats metabolic system and they need certain nutrients that are not readily available from what we do eat. I suggest you buy a book that has proper recipes for cat food. Lots of pople are now making their own cat or dog food. Also, you can start by looking up cat food recipes on line - theres lots! These resources can tell you what to put in the food and what to avoid.

No, not a good idea. Tuna is bad - I dont remember the details on WHY, but its just not good. Ham is going to be very salty and fatty, and thats not good. As an occasional treat its not horrid, but not for a steady diet. For one, they arent getting the nutrients they need. Taurine is a big one - this is something they absolutely need to get from their food. What you can do is consider other brands of food, or you can research making their food. If you want to make their food, youll need to do some research. You need to ensure that they get the proper amounts of meat, bone and organs. If you do want to learn more, start with the last link Ive provided (catnutrition. org). It contains info about raw feeding and also a recipe you can try.
