In a dry food ingredient i was reading that it has ground whole wheat and Corn Gluten... is that ok? It is in the dry cat food, Natural Life

Monica

Whole wheat is perfectly fine, but corn gluten is under suspicion right now. Consider 'Blue Buffalo', its adult formula contains none of the ingredients under suspicion, and is wheat, corn, soy free.

To find a list of the recalled brands, use Google. Go to www. google. com and type "recalled pet foods list" into the search box there. Look up this particular brand on the list. If its not there, youre safe -- even with the wheat in it.

Andreas

Corn gluten has been found to be contaminated in certain batches. With all the expansions of the recall, Im putting my animals on grain free. Heres a good place to get information:http://www. itchmo. comYou can go to Menufoods. com for a recall list, but keep in mind there are 4 more foods (at least) that might have recieved contaminated grain and the FDA is not releasing the names yet. IMHO, that says it all. Please be careful!

Right now it is only the wheat gluten and Rice Protein. The FDA and Senator Durbin have found a second company that imported Rice Protein to the Us. I read it in Pet connection. com under their Blog.

Ok is a relative term. Recall aside, I will not feed my cats food that has ANY type of wheat or corn. Cats are carnivores who need to eat meat, not cereal. Although you cant avoid some form of grains if youre feeding kibble, wheat and corn are not grains you want to see. Youre best bet would be to switch to canned food, but failing that, try a better brand of dry.

I found some good info here.
